FAILURE NATURE AND FAILURE SYMPTOMS

The Y-Main LJ92-01275A has two groups of zener diodes near each of the two black connectors used to attach the plasma display buffer boards to.

Aging and other factors can cause one or more of the diodes in either or both groups to fail and short.

Sometimes they may show signs of burn which can even be severe enough to burn a hole throught he board; other times there may be nothing visible at all and the diodes may still be shorted.

The effects on the board can vary from nothing else to a cascade failure of multiple other components, the first being more common.

If nothing else fails on the board the outside effect would be a TV that comes up and stays on, possibly with sound (if configured to the proper input source with signal present), but nothing on the screen.

KIT CONTENTS

The repair kit contains FOUR zener diodes, which should be used in two groups of two diodes each.

The diodes in each group must be connected in SERIES (i.e. cathode of one diode soldered to the anode of the other diode).

Note the original design is made up of FOUR SMD diodes in series, resulting in one large zener diode.

The repair kit makes the same zener with TWO diodes, that are not SMD.

You must use the FIRST and LAST point of the series on the board (see pictures) for soldering each diode.

We recommend replacing BOTH sections even if only one is determined to be bad.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL

The kit requires medium soldering skills and basic to intermediate level of electronics knowledge.

You must be able to identify anode and cathode in a discrete diode (cathode is the end of the cylinder with the ring on the component and the side of the rectangle with the solid line on the PCB's marking).

And it is highly recommended that you are able to test the diodes on your board for shortage prior to purchasing this kit.

WARRANTIES AND DISCLAIMERS

1) WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU TEST THE DIODES ON YOUR BOARD PRIOR TO PLACING AN ORDER! IF YOU DO NOT FIND A SHORT YOU DO NOT NEED THIS REPAIR KIT. A REPAIR SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT BOARD WOULD LIKELY BE A BETTER OPTION.

2) AS WITH ALL OTHER REPAIR KITS WE OFFER THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THIS ONE IS ALL THAT IS NEEDED! AS STATED EARLIER MANY TIMES IT *IS* ALL THAT IS NEEDED, BUT SOMETIMES, LESS OFTEN AS IT MIGHT BE, THERE ARE OTHER FAILURES ON THE BOARD AS WELL.
PURCHASING THIS REPAIR KIT YOU AGREE TO TAKE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE OUTCOME OF YOUR REPAIR ATTEMPT!

3) THERE ARE NO RETURNS OFFERED FOR THIS PRODUCT! ALL PARTS IN IT ARE BRAND NEW AND , UNLIKE THE FINAL RESULT OF ANY REPAIR THAT WAS NOT PERFORMED BY US, THERE IS VERY LITTLE REASONS TO BELIEVE THE COMPONENTS COULD BE BAD.
